Counselling

How we can help you

At Mind Body Bedroom, we know that cancer affects more than just the body — it touches every part of a person’s life, including their emotions, identity, relationships, and sense of security. This specialised counselling service is designed to walk alongside individuals and their families from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and well into survivorship.

Led by a qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Care with postgraduate qualifications in breast oncology and counselling, the practice offers compassionate, client-centred support tailored to the unique needs of those experiencing a breast cancer diagnosis. We understand the emotional impact of hearing the words “you have cancer” and the complex journey that follows. Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to express thoughts and feelings, navigate uncertainty, manage changing relationships, and develop a personalised toolkit of strategies for navigating any challenges that may lie ahead.

The counselling service at Mind Body Bedroom extends beyond the individual to include partners, loved ones, and carers, who are often navigating their own emotions while trying to provide support. We help couples and families communicate openly, understand treatment stages and their effects, and cope with the shifts in roles, intimacy, and emotions that cancer inevitably brings.

From adjusting to body image changes, altered sense of self, and loss of confidence, to dealing with anxiety, grief, treatment-related trauma, and the impact cancer can have on emotional and physical intimacy, my holistic approach ensures wellbeing is prioritised at every stage. Counselling is also available when treatment phases are complete, supporting individuals and couples to manage survivorship challenges, fear of recurrence, relationship changes, and life transitions after active care.
